It’s time for Fat Tuesday! Mardi Gras, the days of celebration before Ash Wednesday and the beginning of Lent, is officially hosted every year in New Orleans, but Oregonians know how to throw a party, too. Toast the carnival season by checking out these fun Mardi Gras festivities in your neck of the woods:
• Portland Mardi Gras Ball: In its second year at the Bossanova Ballroom, the Mardi Gras Ball is a chance to indulge in fabulous food, dance to festive music and show off your most outrageous costumes and masks to win those infamous beads. This year’s theme is “They All Ask’d for You (Audubon Zoo),” with featured music by Too Loose Cajun Band, Atomic Gumbo and Philly’s Phunkestra. Buy tickets in advance for $25, or $30 day of show.
• Mardi Gras 2012 at Bentley’s Grill: If you can’t make it to the French Quarter this year, celebrate Mardi Gras night at Bentley’s Grill in Salem. Delicious traditional fare, such as Shrimp Po’ Boy, Jambalaya, Gumbo and more, will be served up with cocktails, such as the Hurricane, Gator Bite and Fat Tuesday Punch. Enjoy that favorite food or beverage of yours before you have to give it up for Lent!
• Mardi Gras Moolah: Coyote Club members can earn daily entries into Spirit Mountain Casino’s Mardi Gras Moolah promotion now through Feb. 19th. You can earn additional entries just by playing your favorite games. Cash prizes between $100 and $500 are up for grabs in the hourly drawings, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
