Ranked among Entertainment Weekly’s 25 Funniest People in America, it’s no wonder the comedian’s peers have dubbed her as, “one of the funniest stand-up comics.” In the past two years alone, this smart-witted comic has enjoyed a successful career in a number of different areas, including her own late night talk show on FOX, “The Wanda Sykes Show”, and her 2009 HBO “I’ma Be Me” stand up special.

Sykes is not just a comedian—she’s a writer, voice artist and an actress, too. She made a name for herself in a variety of comedic television and film roles, including “Monster in Law” and “Curb Your Enthusiasm.” She initially got her start writing for and appearing on “The Chris Rock Show”. In 2004, she published “Yeah, I Said It” a hilarious collection of essays about life, family, and other events.

Sykes was nominated for three Primetime Emmy Awards in 1999 and won for “Outstanding Writing for a Variety, Music or Comedy Special” for her work on HBO’s critically acclaimed “Chris Rock Show” as both a writer and a performer. In 2001, she won the American Comedy Award for “Outstanding Female Stand Up Comic,” and won three more Emmys in 2002, 2004 and 2005, and was awarded Comedy Central’s Commie Award for “Funniest TV Actress in 2003.”  In 2009, Sykes was even honored as the featured entertainer for the annual White House Correspondents’ Association dinner.
